Springbank Primary WW1 workshops

Just completed 3 workshops with Springbank Primary Year 5 on WW1.  We looked at WW1 on the home front and what was happening in Sunny Bank Mills and other Mills in the area and what it was like for the people and children of Farsley.

The children got up close and personal with the collection and some very special loaned items of medals, love heart brooches and the local paper at the time The Pudsey and Stanningley News.

On the workshops the children got the chance to be inspired by the collection and create their own written and artistic interpretations.  We will look forward to displaying their masterpieces in a special exhibition in the Archive corridor on the 7th September 2018 part of Heritage Open Days, which everyone is welcome to come too.

Thanks to the Year 5 children of Springbank Primary and the support of our wonderful volunteers here at Sunny Bank Mills Archive

Thanks also for the loaned items from private collections and collections and displays from Pudsey & District Civic Society and Leeds Museums and Galleries.

Workshops run and managed by Rachel Moaby, Archive Curator Sunny Bank Mills and Irene Lofthouse, Writer and Storyteller.

These workshops have been possible with the generous funding of the Heritage Lottery.
