Pudsey and District Civic Society move to Sunny Bank Mills

We are delighted to welcome Pudsey and District Civic Society to Sunny Bank Mills. They have moved their extensive and important local area archive to No 5 Red Lane Mills, right next door to the Sunny Bank Mills Archive. This great synergy is one of the many reason we are so happy to attract them to the Mills. Indeed, they have already worked with us closely over the last two years in making the Heritage Open Days held at the Mills, such a success. Molly Johnson of Pudsey and District Society commented; “We are delighted to be taking advantage of the larger premises at the newly opened complex at Sunny Bank Mills. Sunny Bank Mills offers the ideal site for storing our valuable documents and memorabilia.” The Society cover Pudsey, Farsley, Calverley, Rodley, Tyersal, Fulneck and parts of Stanningley so a base in Farsley was a great fit. Although the archive is not a public access point, they hold weekly drop in sessions on Fridays at 10am at Pudsey Library where people can seek information on the area, past and present aswell as consulting on heritage and planning issues. Pudsey and District Civic Society are also responsible for the beautiful Red heritage plaques that mark the areas historical buildings including the one on the Sandsgate Building. and the Society is an invaluable asset to the area.
