Urban Exploration at Sunny Bank Mills

I gave access to two Urban Explorers recently, guiding them through unused areas of the mill. UrbEx is a global community of people whose hobby, or rather passion, is to explore derelict and empty urban spaces. I hadn’t realized how big a phenomenon it was until I started searching on the internet ! They operate under certain unwritten rules like not breaking and entering and the  principle of “Take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints” and it was great fun to thread through the mill with them and see their reactions and take on what they saw. These are also talented photographers and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to capture some quality images of the mill, pre regeneration. Have a look at the blog and photos of the day from one of the guys,  www.barnabyaldrick.com or see Joe Stenson’s Flickr page, this guy has done some serious travelling and taken some absolutely stunning pictures! www.flickr.com
